CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

We want to hear you ROAR!!

What does being a womxn mean in 2019?

So many of us are speaking out through social movements like #metoo, Say Her Name, and the Women’s March. We are activated by headlines around anti-abortion legislation, gun control, “Grab her by the pussy,” missing and murdered Indigenous women, family separations, body shaming, and more. What speaks to you? We’re listening, and we want to give you time and space to be heard!

The Bridge Initiative: Women in Theatre is accepting submissions for “ROAR! A Celebration.” This evening of theatre will feature artists of all genders. We will curate material submitted from local and national theatremakers, combining to create a unique, one-evening fundraising event to be presented at Tempe Center for the Arts on Saturday, September 14th, 2019. Proceeds will be split with a charity (TBA) whose work impacts womxn’s issues.

SEEKING: Song, dance, spoken word, performance piece, up to 5 minutes in length. We are open to 1) artists who wish to perform their own material and 2) writers who wish to offer material to be presented by professionals that we will cast at a later date. If you have a draft that is incomplete, we can consider it (though finished work is ideal).
COMPENSATION: As this is a charity benefit, we are not offering any compensation.
SUBMIT: PDF document or video link to be submitted to RoarBridgeInit@gmail.com. (No submission fees). *If you have a charity you wish us to consider as a partner, please let us know.
DEADLINE: All materials must be received by midnight, July 15th, 2019.
